About Mandatory Third-Party Insurance Rules:Third-party motor insurance:It is a mandatory insurance cover under the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA), 1988, provides legal liability cover for injury, death, or property damage caused to a third party by the insured vehicle.Implementation:The SCI directed the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to implement the revised insurance periods immediately and proposed a four-layer insurance policy framework with mandatory third-party cover and optional add-ons.Fuel Station Enforcement:Directed theIRDAIand the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to explore a pilot project for implementing a “No Insurance, No Fuel” policy at petrol pumps.About IRDAI:Established in 1999 as a statutory body under the IRDA Act, 1999, and headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana.
