About SEMICON India 2026: Organised by: The conference was organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in partnership with global industry body Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).

• Release of Report: During the SEMICON 2026, Ernst & Young (EY) in partnership with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) released a report titled ‘Semicon India 2.0: From capacity creation to ecosystem leadership’.

2. PMKKKY Completes 11 Years, Surpasses 4.70 Lakh Projects Worth Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore

On 17 September 2026, the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) launched by the Ministry of Mines ( MoM ) to ensure that mining-affected communities receive benefits, completed 11 years since its launch.

3. MYAS Launches 100 Weeks Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan with Nationwide Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh

In September 2026, the Department of Youth Affairs (DoYA) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS), through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) and National Service Scheme (NSS), launched the 100 Weeks Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan (NMBA) via the nationwide Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh starting September 18, 2026.

4. 18th India–Mongolia Joint Military Exercise’ NOMADIC ELEPHANT’ Begins in Uttarakhand On 21 September 2026, the 18th edition of the annual India–Mongolia Joint Military Exercise ‘NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2026’ commenced at the Foreign Training Node(FTN), Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, and will continue until 3 October 2026. About Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2026: Participation: Exercise Nomadic Elephant 2026 involves 45 personnel each from the Indian Army ( IA ), predominantly from a battalion of the ARUNACHAL SCOUTS and the Mongolian Armed Forces. Joint Training Focus: T he exercise will focus on tactical-level operations, exchange of best practices, refinement of operational drills and enhanced interoperability between the Indian and Mongolian armies. 5. MoD Signs Rs 586 Crore Contract with AICPL for APUs for T-72 & T-90 Tanks

In September 2026, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a Rs 586 crore contract with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited ( AICPL ) for 3,257 Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) required for T-72 and T-90 tanks, including 1,657 for T-90 and 1,600 for T-72, of the Indian Army ( IA ).

In September 2026, Union Minister C R Patil, Ministry of Jal Shakti(MoJS), launched Swachh Seva Aankalan (SSA), an annual digital self-assessment framework for monitoring rural sanitation service delivery under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen 2.0 [SBM(G) 2.0].

9. Biometric Aadhaar Authentication Made Mandatory for Subsidised LPG Refill Booking from October 1, 2026

In September 2026, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas ( MoPNG ) has mandated Biometric Aadhaar Authentication ( BAA ) for domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas ( LPG ) consumers from October 1, 2026, to book refills at the regulated Retail Selling Price (RSP) with applicable subsidy.

• Compliance: Consumers completing BAA can continue LPG refill booking at regulated RSP with subsidy, while those without BAA must complete authentication to avail subsidised refills at RSP Non-BAA Consumers: Consumers unwilling or unable to complete BAA can continue receiving LPG by registering through OMC digital platforms, but will receive 5 kg (kilogram)or 10 kg cylinders at market price without subsidy, subject to local availability.

18. RBI Cancels Licences of 5 NBFCs; 8 Others Surrender Registrations Due to Exit, Merger & Compliance Changes

In September 2026, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) cancelled the Certificates of Registration ( CoR ) of five Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and accepted surrender of licences from eight other NBFCs across India due to exits from Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI) business, mergers, and regulatory compliance changes.
