Background:Origin:Initiated by the Government ofNepalto commemorate the first successful ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.1st Observance:International Everest Day was first observed in Nepal on 29May2008.2026Summit: The second edition of theEverest Summiteers Summit 2026,organised by Everest Alliance Nepal in collaboration with Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, was held in Kathmandu(Nepal), where 176 Mount Everest climbers from 26 countries were honoured with special medals and certificates.
