- Junior Assistant, covering both security and non security streams
- Bill Collector
- Typist
- Steno Typist, Grade III
- Tax Collector
- Forest Watcher
- Forest Guard with a valid driving licence
Eligibility and Age Limits Explained
Educational eligibility is deliberately broad for this examination, which is exactly why it draws lakhs of applicants every cycle. A pass in SSLC is sufficient for Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant and Bill Collector. Forest Guard and Forest Watcher require a pass in HSC with Science subjects. Typist and Steno Typist additionally require the relevant technical certificates in typewriting or shorthand. A small number of posts expect a completed degree, so confirm the requirement against your preferred post before paying the fee.
Age is calculated as on 01/07/2026. The minimum age is 21 years for Village Administrative Officer, Forest Guard and Forest Watcher. For every other post in this notification the minimum age is 18 years. Upper age relaxation follows the standard rules published by the commission for reserved categories and for departmental candidates.
Application Fee and the Online Process
The examination fee is Rupees 100 and it must be paid on or before 05/11/2026. Payment made after that timestamp will not be considered, even if the application form itself was started earlier. A valid one time registration account is mandatory before you can open the application form, so create or renew that account first if your registration has expired.
A correction window has been provided from 9 November to 11 November 2026. Use it to fix spelling, community, date of birth or post preference errors. Once that window closes the submitted data is final and the commission does not entertain later correction requests.

PSTM Reservation and the Tamil Language Condition
Twenty percent horizontal reservation is available for candidates who studied through Tamil medium, a provision usually referred to as PSTM. To claim it you must produce the prescribed certificate from the institutions where you studied. Separately, every candidate must demonstrate adequate knowledge of Tamil, either through Tamil as a subject at SSLC or HSC level, or by clearing the Second Class Language Test in Tamil within two years of appointment. Candidates who overlook this condition lose the appointment even after clearing the written examination.
How to Start Preparing From Today
You have roughly three months between the closing date and the written examination. The syllabus overlaps heavily with the Samacheer Kalvi school curriculum, which is why disciplined revision beats last minute coaching for this particular examination. Begin with the full syllabus and study plan in our TNPSC Group 4 complete preparation guide, then build an answering rhythm with the Group 4 mock test series.
Once your basics are stable, move to previous year question papers to understand how the commission repeats concepts, and benchmark yourself against the previous cut off marks. Keep the habit alive with our weekly practice test, which mirrors the actual paper pattern and negative marking scheme.
