காவல் உதவி ஆய்வாளர் (Sub-Inspector) பதவிக்குத் தயாராகிறவர்களுக்கான ஒரே பக்கம். குறுகிய வரிகள். தமிழ் முதலில், ஆங்கிலம் அடுத்து. இங்குள்ள ஊதியமோ உயரமோ ஓட்ட நேரமோ அந்த ஆண்டு அறிவிப்பிலிருந்து சரிபார்க்க வேண்டியவை. இந்தப் பக்கம் அந்த எண்களை நினைவிலிருந்து எழுதவில்லை. காரணம் எளிது: ஒவ்வோர் ஆண்டும் எண் மாறும். பழைய எண்ணை நம்பி உடலைத் தயார் செய்தவர்கள்தான் மைதானத்தில் ஏமாறுகிறார்கள்.

இரண்டு வாசல்

• TNUSRB நடத்தும் தேர்வு. பதவி Sub-Inspector. தாலுகா, ஆயுதப் படை, TSP என அறிவிப்பு பிரிக்கும்.
• எழுத்துத் தேர்வில் தேறினாலும் உடல் தேர்வில் நின்றால் பதவி கிடைக்காது. இரண்டும் தனி வாசல்.
• குரூப் 4 பொது அறிவுத் தாள் இது அல்ல. காவல் பணிக்கான எழுத்துத் தாளும், தரையில் நடக்கும் அளவு மற்றும் தாங்குதிறன் தேர்வும் சேர்ந்தது.

வாரியம் எந்தப் பதவிகளை நிரப்புகிறது

TNUSRB என்பது சீருடைப் பணியாளர் தேர்வு வாரியம். உதவி ஆய்வாளர் மட்டுமல்ல, இரண்டாம் நிலைக் காவலர், சிறைக் காவலர், தீயணைப்பு வீரர் போன்ற பணிகளுக்கும் இதே வாரியம் ஆள் எடுக்கிறது. ஆனால் உதவி ஆய்வாளர் என்பது அதிகாரி நிலை. எழுத்துத் தாளின் ஆழமும், படிக்க வேண்டிய சட்டமும் வேறு. காவலர் தேர்வுக்குப் படித்த குறிப்புகளை அப்படியே எடுத்து வந்தால் பாதி போதாது.

நிலைகள் எந்த வரிசையில் வரும்

• ஒவ்வொரு நிலையும் அடுத்ததற்கான நுழைவுச்சீட்டு. ஒன்றில் தவறினால் மீதியைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப்பட வேண்டியதில்லை.

எழுத்துத் தாள்

• அறிவிப்பு சொல்லும் பாடங்களே தாள். பொதுவாக சட்டம், குற்றம், தமிழ்நாட்டு நிர்வாகம், நடப்பு நிகழ்வு ஆகியவை அதிக எடை வாங்கும். அந்தப் பட்டியலை அறிவிப்பிலிருந்து எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். இங்கே ஒரு போலி பாடப்பட்டியல் இல்லை.
• குற்றவியல் சட்டங்கள் மாறிவிட்டன. 2024 ஜூலை முதல் பாரதிய நியாய சன்ஹிதா, பாரதிய நாகரிக் சுரக்ஷா சன்ஹிதா, பாரதிய சாக்ஷ்ய அதிநியம் ஆகியவை முன்பிருந்த இந்தியத் தண்டனைச் சட்டம், குற்றவியல் நடைமுறைச் சட்டம், சாட்சியச் சட்டம் ஆகியவற்றின் இடத்துக்கு வந்தன. பழைய வினா வங்கிகளில் பிரிவு எண்கள் பழையவை. உங்கள் ஆண்டின் பாடத்திட்டம் எதைக் கேட்கிறது என்பதை அறிவிப்பில் பார்த்து அதற்கேற்பப் படியுங்கள்.
• பழைய வினாத்தாளை முதலில் நேரத்துக்கு மூடி எழுதுங்கள். விடைக்குறிப்போடு படித்தால் நினைவு வராது. அடையாளம் மட்டும் வரும்.
• தவறிய வினாவை மூன்றாகப் பிரியுங்கள். பாடமே தெரியாதா, வரியை தவறாகப் படித்தா, நேரம் முடிந்ததா. முதல் வகைக்கு புத்தகம். இரண்டாவதுக்கு கேள்வியின் செயல் சொல்லை அடிக்கோடிடுதல். மூன்றாவதுக்கு கடினமான வினாவை கடைசியில் வைத்தல்.

வேலை செய்துகொண்டே படிப்பவருக்கான வரிசை

• முதல் இரண்டு மாதம்: பாடத்திட்டத்தை முழுமையாகப் படித்து, எது புதிது எது தெரியும் என்று பிரியுங்கள். அதே நேரத்தில் வாரத்தில் நான்கு நாள் மெதுவான ஓட்டம் தொடங்குங்கள்.
• நடு மாதங்கள்: ஒரு நாள் சட்டம், ஒரு நாள் தமிழ்நாட்டு நிர்வாகம், ஒரு நாள் நடப்பு நிகழ்வு என்று சுழற்சி. ஓட்டத்தின் தூரத்தை மெல்ல கூட்டுங்கள்.
• கடைசி மாதங்கள்: முழுத் தாள் பயிற்சி. ஓட்டமும் தாண்டுதலும் அறிவிப்பின் வடிவிலேயே பயிற்சி.
• இது என் பரிந்துரை. அதிகாரப்பூர்வ திட்டம் அல்ல. உங்கள் வேலை நேரத்துக்கு ஏற்ப நகர்த்திக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.

தரைத் தேர்வு

• உயரம், மார்பளவு, ஓட்டம், தாண்டுதல் ஆகியவற்றின் எண் அறிவிப்பில் இருக்கும். ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஒரே அட்டவணை என்று நம்பாதீர்கள். ஆண், பெண், இனப் பிரிவுக்கு தனி வரி இருக்கும்.
• எழுத்துப் படிப்போடு சேர்த்து ஓட்டத்தை மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பே தொடங்குங்கள். தேர்வுக்கு பத்து நாள் முன் ஆரம்பித்த ஓட்டம் அளவை மாற்றாது.
• முதலில் அடித்தளம்: வாரம் மூன்று, நான்கு நாள் மெதுவான தொடர் ஓட்டம். பிறகு வேகப் பயிற்சி. வாரம் ஒரு நாள் மட்டும் முழு முயற்சி. மற்ற நாட்களில் முழு முயற்சி போட்டால் காயம் வரும்.
• கால், இடுப்புக்கு வலுப் பயிற்சியும் நீட்சிப் பயிற்சியும் சேருங்கள். நல்ல ஓட்டக் காலணி. ஓய்வும் தூக்கமும் பயிற்சியின் பகுதி.
• சான்றிதழ் மருத்துவ நிலையத்தில் வாங்கும் உயர அளவும், தேர்வு மைதானத்தில் வாங்கும் அளவும் வேறுபட்டால் தேர்வு மைதானமே கணக்கு. வீட்டில் அளந்து மனஅமைதி அடைவது போதாது.
• எடை கூட்டும் தூள், ஊக்க மருந்து, குறுக்கு வழி எதுவும் வேண்டாம். சிக்கினால் வாழ்நாள் தடை வரலாம்.

ஊதியம்

• அறிவிப்பில் தெரிவது ஊதிய நிலை. கையில் கிடைக்கும் தொகை அல்ல.
• அகவிலைப்படி, பணியிடத்தின் வாடகைப்படி, பதவிப்படி சேரும். வருங்கால வைப்பு நிதி, தொழில் வரி போகும். அகவிலைப்படி அடிக்கடி மாறும். இணையத்தில் எழுதப்பட்ட ரூபாய் தொகை பழையது.
• ஆரம்ப ஊதியத்தை மட்டும் பார்க்காதீர்கள். பதவி உயர்வு படி, மாறுதல், ஓய்வூதியம் ஆகியவை பத்து ஆண்டு கணக்கில் பெரிது.

பணியில் சேர்ந்த பிறகு

தேர்வானதும் பயிற்சிக் காலம் உண்டு. அதன் பிறகு பணியிடம். காவல் நிலைய அலுவல், நீதிமன்ற அலுவல், திருவிழா, தேர்தல், போராட்டக் கால பாதுகாப்புப் பணி என நாள் நேரம் பார்க்காத வேலை. விடுமுறை நாளில் அழைப்பு வரும். இதை முன்பே ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவர் நீண்ட காலம் நிற்பார். சீருடை மட்டும் ஈர்த்துத் தேர்வெழுதியவர் முதல் ஆண்டிலேயே சோர்வார்.

ஆவணங்களை முன்பே தயார் செய்யுங்கள்

• பட்டச் சான்றிதழ் மற்றும் மதிப்பெண் பட்டியல். அறிவிப்பின் பெயர் வடிவத்துடன் ஒத்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
• இனச் சான்றிதழ் அறிவிப்பு கேட்கும் வடிவத்தில். காலாவதியான சான்றிதழ் சரிபார்ப்பில் திரும்பும்.
• பள்ளி மாற்றுச் சான்றிதழ், புகைப்பட அடையாள அட்டை. பெயர், பிறந்த தேதி எல்லா ஆவணத்திலும் ஒரே எழுத்துப்பிழையுடன் அல்ல, சரியாக ஒன்றாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
• தமிழ் வழிக் கல்வி ஒதுக்கீடு போன்ற சலுகை கோருவதாக இருந்தால் அதற்கான சான்று.

விண்ணப்பிக்கும் முன்

• வயது, அந்த அறிவிப்பு சொல்லும் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நாளில் கணக்கிடப்படும். இன்று உங்கள் வயது அல்ல.
• பட்டத்தின் பெயர் அறிவிப்பின் பட்டியலில் அப்படியே இருக்க வேண்டும். “இதுவும் பட்டம் தானே” என்ற வாதம் சரிபார்ப்பில் நிற்காது.

This page is for people aiming at the Sub-Inspector post. It is written the way I would explain it to someone sitting across a table: what the exam is, where people lose a year, and what to check before spending money on fees and coaching. Every figure that moves each year (height, run time, pay, marks per stage) is left to the notification on purpose. A number copied from last cycle is the commonest reason a fit, well-read candidate gets sent home from the ground.

Two gates, not one paper

TNUSRB recruits the Sub-Inspector. The notification splits the post into Taluk, Armed Reserve and TSP. A candidate who clears the written paper and then fails the physical stage does not get the job. The written score does not carry you past the ground.

This is not the Group 4 general-studies paper. Group 4 does not measure your height or your run. Preparing from a Group 4 guide and hoping the overlap is enough is how people waste a cycle.

What the board actually recruits

The Tamil Nadu Uniform Services Recruitment Board is not only about Sub-Inspectors. The same board selects Grade II Police Constables, Jail Warders and Firemen. Sub-Inspector is the officer grade, so the written paper goes deeper and the law you need to know is wider. If you have been preparing for the constable exam, your notes are a start, but you will be underprepared for the officer paper. If you are aiming at the officer post, do not use a constable guide as your main book.

The stages, in the order you will meet them

Recent notifications for this post have generally run along these lines. Treat this as a picture of the process, not as the rule for your year.

• A Tamil eligibility test, where the notification includes one.
• The main written examination.
• Physical measurement: height and chest.
• An endurance test, and a physical efficiency test with its own events.
• A personal interview, followed by certificate verification.

The order, the marks given to each stage and which stages are only qualifying are all fixed by that year’s notification. Past notifications have also given extra credit to certain groups, such as NCC certificate holders, sportspersons and ex-servicemen. Check whether yours does and what proof it asks for. Each stage is a ticket to the next. A candidate who fails one has no reason to worry about the rest, which is why the early stages need the same respect as the last one.

Do not treat the Tamil paper as free marks

When a Tamil language eligibility paper is part of the notification, people tend to think of it as a formality and skip it until the last week. It usually works as a qualifying hurdle. Failing a paper that carries no ranking marks still ends your attempt. Read Tamil for a short stretch every few days from the beginning, the way you would keep up a language, and you will not have to cram.

The written paper

• Read the subject list in that year’s notification. Law, crime, Tamil Nadu administration and current events usually carry weight, but the list itself is the notification’s, not this page’s.
• The criminal law codes changed. From July 2024 the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replaced the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Evidence Act. Older question banks and guide books quote the old section numbers. Look at what your year’s syllabus names, and study that version. Do not memorise a section list from a book printed before the change without checking it.
• Sit an old paper closed, on the clock, before you look at a key. Reading with the answers beside you is recognition. The hall asks for recall.
• Sort every miss. You had never met the idea, you misread the line, or the clock ran out. Those three need three different fixes. A book, a slower reading of the operative word, or leaving the hard item until the easy marks are in.
• One full paper a week while the syllabus is still new. Two a week in the last six weeks. More than that measures chapters you have not read.

A plan for someone who is also working

This is my suggestion, not an official schedule. Bend it around your shifts.

• First two months: read the whole syllabus once, and mark what is new to you and what you already know. In the same weeks, start slow running four days a week. The legs need time, and the body does not forgive a late start.
• Middle months: rotate. One day for law, one for Tamil Nadu administration, one for current events. Lengthen the run a little at a time rather than in jumps.
• Last months: full papers on the clock, and the run and jumps rehearsed in the same form the notification lists them.

The test of a plan is whether you still follow it in the third week of a bad month. A modest plan you keep beats an ambitious one you drop.

The ground test

Height, chest, the run and the jumps are printed in the notification, separately for men and women and sometimes by category. Do not train to a number you remember from a senior’s year.

If you are short of the height line, no training closes the gap. So before you read a single chapter, put the notification’s height line next to your own height. It is a painful comparison to make early and a much worse one to make after a year of study.

• Start the run months out. Ten days of sprinting before the ground test does not change a measurement.
• Build a base first: easy continuous running three or four days a week. Add speed work after that. Give one day a week to a hard effort. If every day is a hard day, you will end up injured rather than fast.
• Add leg and hip strength and stretching. A decent pair of running shoes is worth more than any supplement. Sleep is part of the training.
• The figure that counts is the one taken on the board’s ground, not the one from a clinic certificate you keep at home. Measuring yourself at home and feeling comfortable is not the same thing.
• Stay away from powders, injections or any shortcut meant to alter a measurement or a performance. If you are caught, the consequence can be a permanent bar from future recruitment.

Pay

The notification quotes a pay level on the Tamil Nadu matrix. That is not take-home pay. Dearness allowance, house rent for the station, and any post allowance are added. Provident fund and professional tax come off. Dearness allowance moves, so a rupee figure copied from an old page is already stale.

Starting pay is the small comparison. The promotion ladder, whether the posting transfers, and the pension matter more across ten years.

What the job is like after you are selected

Selection is followed by a training period, and then a posting. Station duty, court duty, festival and election bandobast, and law-and-order duty during protests make up a working week that does not follow office hours. You will be called on days off. Someone who accepts that before applying will last in the service. Someone who was attracted only by the uniform tends to be tired by the end of the first year. Be honest with yourself and your family about this part before you commit three years of effort.

Sort your documents before you need them

• Degree certificate and mark statements. The name of the degree must match the way the notification names it.
• Community certificate in the form the notification asks for. An outdated one is sent back at verification.
• School transfer certificate and a photo identity card. Your name and date of birth should read the same on every document. If there is a mismatch, correct it early through the proper office, as that can take weeks.
• Proof for any reservation or preference you plan to claim, such as Tamil-medium study, NCC, sports or ex-serviceman status.

Before you pay the fee

• Age is counted on the cut-off date in the notification, not on the day you feel young enough.
• The degree must be named as the notification names it.
• Check your height and, where relevant, your eyesight against the notification’s standards once, honestly.
• The board’s own site is tnusrb.tn.gov.in. Read the notification there, not a summary of it.
